While we have expanded into water infrastructure, civil engineering, structural projects, and roadworks, we remain deeply rooted in our electrical heritage. As a specialist contractor in the energy sector, Ferrycarrig boasts extensive experience across several key areas:

Power Transmission Infrastructure

Our power transmission projects involve constructing high and extra-high voltage (33kV-330+kV) ductlines, cable installation, jointing, testing, and commissioning. We have significant experience delivering electrical transmission projects, including installing HV duct banks using both open cut and trenchless technology methods. Our cable hauling trailer—custom-designed to transport and install large-scale cable drums (up to 32 tonnes, 1km)—enhances our capabilities in this field.

To ensure successful project delivery, our teams engage early in potholing and design phases, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Power Distribution and Overhead Infrastructure

Power distribution projects involve constructing lower voltage ductlines, cabling, jointing, overhead wiring, testing, and commissioning. Ferrycarrig has completed numerous distribution projects as part of major infrastructure upgrades in Greater Sydney and regional NSW. Community engagement is a key component of our approach, particularly when undergrounding overhead lines, which can impact local areas. We prioritize consulting with and informing the community to ensure positive outcomes for all parties. Our capabilities in this area include:

• Removal of overhead connections and poles
• Installation of smart poles and signals
• Property connections
• Undergrounding of overhead lines (UGOH) and installation of pillars

Power Generation Infrastructure (Substations)

Ferrycarrig has extensive experience in substation construction, including civil works for foundations and buildings, as well as electrical fit-out, fire protection, security, and finishing works.

Renewable Energy

Ferrycarrig uniquely manages both civil and electrical works essential to renewable energy projects. We bring substantial experience in delivering electrical infrastructure for power networks and generation facilities, including transmission lines and substations. Our comprehensive in-house capabilities and proven track record position us well for significant civil and electrical works in large-scale renewable energy projects. These include battery storage, geothermal, biogas, pumped hydro, solar, and wind farms. We often act as principal contractors, performing most tasks ourselves while collaborating with trusted specialist subcontractors when needed.

Our expertise extends to renewable energy projects across regional and rural Australia. Our workforce is skilled in mobilizing and working with remote communities, which is crucial for effective project resourcing and timely delivery of green energy solutions.
