Ferrycarrig awarded Box Hill to Vineyard 132kv Transmission Mains Construction

Monday 6 Feburary 2022 – Ferrycarrig has recently announced their engagement by Endeavour Energy to construct a 132kV underground feeder in the Box Hill area. The purpose of this project is to establish a new zone substation at Box Hill ZS and provide a safe and reliable electricity supply for the local community.

The construction work will involve the installation of ducts and cables for the 132kV transmission feeder. A conventional open trenching methodology will be used for most of the 6.5km route. However, there are some complexities involved in the project, such as the major road crossing of Windsor Road, the crossing of a waterway at Killarney Creek, and the crossing of the railway near Vineyard Station. To tackle these challenges, Horizontal Directional Drilling will be used.

The project is not without its challenges, as it requires close coordination with multiple stakeholders. Ferrycarrig’s delivery team has been working closely with key project stakeholders during the planning phase to ensure minimal disruption to the local community and road users. They have also been careful to consider the proximity of live traffic and existing live utility assets.

The successful completion of this project will provide a safe and reliable electricity supply to the local community in the Box Hill area. It will also support the establishment of a new zone substation at Box Hill ZS, which will help to meet the growing demand for electricity in the area.

The successful completion of this project will provide a reliable electricity supply and support the growing demand for energy in the area.
