Project Overview
Australian War Memorial Upgrade
The project includes a new southern entrance, a new Anzac Hall and glazed link, and new gallery fit-outs in the main building creating additional exhibition galleries to accommodate increased attendance at events.
Ferrycarrig delivered a range of complex utility installations as part of the early works package:
- 175Lm of DICL watermain with multiple hydrants
- 225LM of combined services for gas, water & sewer services
- FRP construction of valve chamber
- Haul 6750T of excavated earth
- Earthworks to regrade batter to new profiles
Duntroon Carpark Utilities
As part of the wider Joint Health Command Garrison Upgrade, Ferrycarrig undertook the utility and services installation at the new multistorey carpark facility. Ferrycarrig commenced works at the Duntroon Carpark project in March 2022, and over 6 month period, delivered the following scope of works:
- 175Lm of DICL watermain with multiple hydrants
- 225LM of combined services for gas, water & sewer services
- 600Lm of stormwater PVC pipe up to 300mm in diameter
- 200Lm of inground PE pipe for fire & water services mains
- 20 stormwater pits precast & in-situ
- Pressure testing and CCTV inspection of newly installed pipework
- Connections to existing mains for water & fire services
- Landscaping and roadway restorations
- Existing services diversions
Key challenges in both projects involved undertaking high-risk work:
- Existing services diversions
- Investigation works to positively identify numerous known & unknown utilities & services via NDD and services locating
- Managing groundwater ingress into deep excavations by a combination of sump pumping, wellpoint dewatering, and hydro vacs during periods of heavy rainfall
- Tie into existing mains within strict timeframes for shutdown permitted by the asset owner
