Lower South Creek Treatment Program water infrastructure Installation

Ferrycarrig delivered six separate water infrastructure projects on three separate Sydney Water treatment plant sites at St Marys, Quakers Hill and Riverstone as part of the development of Sydney’s North West Growth Centre.

The scope of work included the following:

• Large-scale service installations and connections within live treatment plants
• Demolition and construction of structures including FRP tanks, shafts, and pits
• Decommissioning of 6no existing air valves
• Installation of 18no new auto air valves
• Supply and installation of 4 new manual air valves
• Replacement of 2 existing air valves with auto air valves
• Replacement of 29 existing air valves with manual air valves, including supply of manual air valve
• Construction of 19 odour control slabs
• Installation of carbon canisters and conveyor belts
• Installation of 19 stainless steel enclosure
• Construction of vent shaft footing including supply and installation
  of rag bolts
• Installation of 20 12m high vent shafts
• Regrading of 5 sections of existing pipeline
• Pressure testing
• Installation of new lighting
• Piling & general civil works

Ferrycarrig managed a critical pipeline conversion project spanning 6 kilometres from St Marys to Quakers Hill, converting an existing pipeline from RE line to potable water inclusive of valve replacement, thus achieving substantial cost savings for Sydney Water by obviating the need for a new pipeline.

Key challenges faced were effectively managing the commissioning of previously constructed pipelines and connecting over 40 assets within the operational treatment plants at Quakers Hill, Riverstone, and St Marys.
